About KayaGrant
KayaGrant is a free, independent guide to South African social grants: what each grant pays, when SASSA pays it, whether you are likely to pass the means test, and how to apply or appeal. It is part of KayaWise.
We are not SASSA
KayaGrant is not SASSA and is not affiliated with SASSA, the Department of Social Development or any government body. We cannot take applications, check your status or change your grant. For anything about your own grant, contact SASSA on 0800 60 10 11, WhatsApp 082 054 0016, or visit a SASSA office.
Why "KayaGrant"?
"Kaya" is South African slang for home. Social grants keep millions of homes going, and the people who depend on them deserve clear, honest information without rumours, fake dates or anyone asking for their ID number.
Where our information comes from
- Grant amounts: the Government Gazette (GN R.7287 of 23 March 2026) and, for the SRD grant, the COVID-19 SRD regulations as amended in April 2026.
- Payment dates: the 2026/27 schedule published by the Department of Social Development after National Treasury approval on 20 March 2026, and SASSA media statements for changes (such as the revised November 2026 dates).
- Means test: SASSA's means test leaflet (as at 1 April 2026), checked against the formulas in the regulations under the Social Assistance Act (GN R.2119 of 2022).
- Eligibility, documents, reviews and appeals: the Social Assistance Act 13 of 2004, its regulations, and SASSA's 2026 "You and Your Grant" booklet.
- Every figure in our code records its source and the date we checked it, and each page shows those sources. Where official sources disagree or we could not confirm something, we say so on the page.
- Last full review: 30 October 2026.
Our rule on payment dates
We only publish payment dates that SASSA, the Department of Social Development or National Treasury has officially announced. If a month has not been announced, the page says "not yet announced". We never estimate or predict dates. We check for new announcements every month.
No personal data
The site has no forms for ID numbers, phone numbers or bank details, no accounts and no tracking of individuals (we count page views with cookieless analytics; see the privacy policy). The means test checker runs in your browser.
How the site is funded
The site is free. It may show clearly labelled display advertising in future. We do not use affiliate or referral links and adverts never change a result.
